Bay Area Visit

Day 2 began in Tom and Berit's rec room on their air bed.

As soon as Berit got her coffee infusion, she and I headed off for a 30 mile ride to skyline drive, on the ridge above Berkeley and Oakland. We had planned to ride up Mount Diablo (she rides up the mountain once a week), but there was rain in the forecast so we settled for this ride instead.

Berit is an animal, and dropped me on all the hills.

I'd forgotten to take my camera so the above photos were taken with Berit's cell phone. This meant that when we got back she had to figure out how to get the pictures from her phone to me:

Berit is the head honcho at the emergency room at a big hospital, so she's now dealing with all the crazies who come in wanting to be tested for swine flu.

A few random shots: keeping up with my piano practice:

Lena and Berit having a laugh:

This is their dog Sophie. She's nice but has some neuroses. For example, she has a doggie door that she knows how to use, and can use without assistance. However, when she wants to go out or in she won't use it until someone comes into the room and says "OK!" She will pee in the house rather than go through the door without the OK.
